On 23 August 2018 the Senate referred the Freedom of Information Legislation Amendment (Improving Access and Transparency) Bill 2018 to the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 30 November 2018.

The deadline for submissions to the inquiry is 24 September 2018.

About this inquiry

The bill would amend the Archives Act 1983, the Australian Information Commissioner Act 2010, and the Freedom of Information Act 1982 in order to reform Australia’s freedom of information (FOI) laws.
