Migration Amendment (Strengthening the Character Test) Bill 2018

On 15 November 2018 the Senate referred the Migration Amendment (Strengthening the Character Test) Bill 2018 to the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 18 January 2019.

The deadline for submissions to the inquiry is 28 November 2018.

About this inquiry

The bill would amend the Migration Act 1958 to provide grounds to consider visa cancellation or refusal where a non-citizen has been convicted of a designated offence.
