Ensuring Northern Territory Rights Bill 2021

On 5 August 2021 the Senate referred the Ensuring Northern Territory Rights Bill 2021 to the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 6 October 2021. 

The deadline for submissions to this inquiry is 30 August 2021.

The committee may not accept submissions that do not directly address the provisions of the bill, that is the right of the Northern Territory to legislate without Commonwealth interference, and discuss only the matter of voluntary assisted dying.

About this inquiry

The purpose of the Ensuring Northern Territory Rights Bill 2021 is to reduce the level of Commonwealth interference with laws of the Northern Territory related to acquisition of property on just terms, voluntary assisted dying and powers in relation to the hearing and determining of employment disputes.
