Judges and Governors-General Legislation Amendment (Family Law) Bill 2012
Information about the Inquiry
On 22 March 2012 the Senate referred the Judges and Governors-General Legislation Amendment (Family Law) Bill 2012 for inquiry and report.
The Bill amends the Judges' Pension Act 1968 and Governor-General Act 1974 to enable a former spouse of a federal judge or of a governor-general to receive his or her share of a superannuation benefit as a separate benefit at the time of a family law split.
There were no committee reports tabled in the Senate on Tuesday, 8 May 2012, as the Senate dealt with condolence motions for Senator Judith Adams and former member, the Hon Lionel Bowen. The committee's report for this inquiry will be tabled on Thursday, 10 May 2012.
Submissions should be received by 13 April 2012. The reporting date is 08 May 2012.
