On 16 November 2017, the Senate referred the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Amendment (Fair and Balanced) Bill 2017 to the Senate Environment and Communications Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 9 February 2018.

The committee requests an extension of time to report until 16 February 2018 to allow it to fully consider the evidence received and to conclude its deliberations.
