Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Amendment (Prohibition of Live Imports of Primates for Research) Bill 2015

On 15 October 2015 the Senate referred the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Amendment (Prohibition of Live Imports of Primates for Research) Bill 2015 for inquiry and report.

The closing date for submissions is 18 January 2016. The reporting date is 15 March 2016

About this inquiry

The Bill proposes to amend the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 to make it unlawful to import into Australia primates for research purposes, and is intended to ensure that Australia does not participate in the trade of wild-caught primates for experimentation.
