Review of the Telecommunications and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2016

On 9 November 2016, the Attorney-General, Senator the Hon George Brandis QC, asked the Committee to inquire into the Telecommunications and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2016.

The Bill, which was introduced to Parliament on 9 November 2016, amends the Telecommunications Act 1997 to introduce a regulatory framework that is intended to better manage national security risks of unauthorised access to, and interference with, telecommunications networks and facilities.

On 30 June 2017 the Committee tabled its report Review of the Telecommunications and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2016.

Submissions to previous consultations on drafts of the Bill, as well as draft administrative guidelines for the scheme, are available from the Attorney-General's Department at https://www.ag.gov.au/telcosecurity.
