Information about the Inquiry

On 21 June 2012 the Senate jointly referred the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (Registration Fees) Bill 2012 and the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards Bill 2012 for inquiry and report.

The Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards Bill 2012 seeks to establish a national legislative framework for regulating the energy efficiency of products supplied or used within Australia. The bill would provide a national and expanded Equipment Energy Efficiency (E3) Program.

The Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (Registration Fees) Bill 2012 would enable the government to charge registration fees as part of the E3 Program.

Submissions should be received by 12 July 2012. The reporting date is 15 August 2012.

The Committee is seeking written submissions from interested individuals and organisations preferably in electronic form submitted online or sent by email to ec.sen@aph.gov.au as an attached Adobe PDF or MS Word format document. The email must include full postal address and contact details.
