The Senate, on the recommendation of the
Selection of Bills Committee, has referred the above Bill to the Committee for inquiry and report by
2 May 2006. The
Bill enacts new governance
arrangements for the NHMRC that were announced by the Minister for Health
and Ageing on 7 September 2005.

information. The Bill, Explanatory Memorandum, and other information relating to the inquiry

The Committee invites written submissions relating to the Bill
which should be lodged by Thursday, 13 April 2006. The Committee prefers

to hold a public hearing on the Bill in late April.
