In the 47th Parliament on 22 August 2024, the Senate appointed the PFAS select committee. That committee ceased to exist on the eve of the 48th Parliament.

However, in the 48th Parliament on 28 July 2025, the Senate reappointed the Select Committee on PFAS with the same powers and provisions for membership, the power to consider and use the evidence and records of the select committee appointed on 22 August 2024, and with a reporting date of 19 November 2025.

All correspondence and evidence previously received for this inquiry has been made available to the new committee. This means that submissions already provided to the committee do not need to be re-submitted.
