On 12 March 2008, the Senate referred the Renewable Energy Legislation Amendment (Renewable Power Percentage) Bill 2008 to the Senate Standing Committee on Economics for report by 30 May 2008.
This bill is a private Senator's bill introduced by Senator Allison from the Australian Democrats. The bill proposes to amend the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Regulations 2001 to expand, from 2008, the interim targets of the Mandatory Renewable Energy Target (MRET).
