On 16 August 2007, the Senate referred the National Market Driven Energy Efficiency Target Bill 2007 to the Senate Standing Committee on Economics for report by 22 October 2007.
This bill is a private Senator's bill introduced by Senator Allison from the Australian Democrats. The bill proposes to amend the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000 to introduce an energy efficiency trading scheme.
The Committee invites written submissions which should be sent to:

The closing date for submissions is Friday, 21 September 2007.
