Inquiry into the Fairer Private Health Insurance Incentives Bill 2009 and two related bills

      The Senate has transferred the inquiry into 
      the Fairer Private Health Insurance Incentives Bill and related Bills from 
      the Economics Committee to the Community Affairs Legislation Committee and 
      extended the reporting date till 5 August 2009. The transfer also includes 
      the submissions and evidence received by the Economics Committee during 
      its period in control of the inquiry.
      
      The Senate, on the recommendation of the 
      Selection of Bills Committee, has also referred the Health Insurance 
      Amendment (Extended Medicare Safety Net) Bill 2009 for inquiry and report 
      by 5 August.

      The Committee has combined the inquiries into 
      these Bills and now invites you to provide a written submission addressing 
      any or all of these Bills or to expand on the comments made in an earlier 
      submission due to the extended inquiry time frame. The Committee prefers 
      to receive submissions electronically as an attached document – email:

      The Committee has scheduled hearings for 8, 9 
      and 10 July though it will continue to receive submissions until 24 July 
      2009.
      Submissions become Committee 
      documents and are made public only after a decision by the Committee. 
      Publication of submissions includes loading them onto the internet and 
      their being available to other interested parties including the media. 
      Persons making submissions must not release them without the approval of 
      the Committee. Submissions are covered by parliamentary privilege but the 
      unauthorised release of them is not protected.  Information relating to 
      Senate Committee inquiries, including notes to assist in the preparation
