House sittings commence for 2023

On Monday 6 February, the House of Representatives will begin the first sitting week of 2023. Here is a brief overview of what is planned to be debated, and how you can stay up to date during the week.

Government bills

This week, the House plans to resume debate on the following Government bills that have already been introduced (sometimes these plans may change throughout the week):

Private Members' bills

At 10.10am on Monday, the following private Members’ bills are expected to be introduced:

  • Electoral Legislation Amendment (Lowering the Voting Age) Bill 2023 — Mr Bates (AG, Brisbane, Qld)

Private Members' motions

On Monday at approximately 10.40am the following private Members’ motions will be debated in the House:

At 11am on Monday the following private Member’s motions will be debated in the Federation Chamber.

At 4.45pm on Monday the following private Members’ motions will be debated in the Federation Chamber.

Public Committee hearings
