Australian Broadcasting Corporation Amendment (Rural and Regional Advocacy) Bill 2015

At the dissolution of the Senate and the House of Representatives on 9 May 2016 for a general election on 2 July 2016, the parliamentary committees of the 44th Parliament ceased to exist. Therefore inquiries that were not completed have lapsed and submissions cannot be received.  However, information about the inquiries is still available on this website.

On 3 December 2015 the Senate referred the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Amendment (Rural and Regional Advocacy) Bill 2015 for inquiry and report.

The reporting date is 20 June 2016.

About this inquiry

The purpose of this bill is to amend the ABC's Charter in relation to the delivery of services to rural and regional Australia in each State and Territory, and it seeks to define the Corporation's mandate for its public serivce fucntion for journalism in rural and regional Australia.
