Dear Mr President,

On 2 December 2019, the Senate Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Legislation Committee self-referred under Standing Order 25(2)(a) an inquiry into Australia's general aviation industry, with particular reference to aviation in rural, regional and remote Australia. The committee agreed to an interim report on or before the final sitting day in December 2020, and a final report date on or before the final sitting day of November 2021.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the inquiry has not progressed as far as the committee had intended. The committee therefore submits this letter to satisfy the committee's commitment to report back to the Senate.
