Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Bill(s) 2011

Information about the Inquiry

On 24 March 2011 the Senate jointly referred the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (Consequential Amendments and Transitional Provisions) Bill 2011 and the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Bill 2011 for inquiry and report.

The Bill would establish TEQSA as a new national regulatory and quality assurance mechanism for Australian higher education. TEQSA would combine regulatory activity currently undertaken by states and territories with quality assurance activity performed by the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA), reducing the number of federal, state and territory regulatory and quality assurance bodies from nine to one.
