Inquiry into the rights of women and children

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Senator the Hon Penny Wong, asked the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade – Human Rights Subcommittee to inquire into the rights of women and children.

Submitters are requested to carefully consider the material provided in submissions. Given the sensitive nature of the inquiry, the Subcommittee has determined that submissions that identify individuals in relation to allegations of human rights abuses may be accepted as confidential or have names redacted before publishing.

The Subcommittee will not accept material which includes graphic images of alleged human rights abuses to the inquiry.

While personal experiences may be provided to support evidence related to the terms of reference, submitters should note that the Subcommittee cannot intervene in individual human rights cases.
