On 30 January 2023, the Australian Government released a new National Cultural Policy, Revive: a place for every story, a story for every place. This policy is a five-year plan that seeks to revive Australia's arts, entertainment and cultural sectors.

On 31 July 2025, the Senate agreed that the National Cultural Policy inquiry be re-adopted in the 48th Parliament for inquiry and report

All correspondence and evidence previously received for this inquiry as part of the 47th Parliament has been made available to the committee. This means that submissions already provided to the committee do not need to be re-submitted. The committee has the power to refer to the evidence received during the 47th Parliament.

The committee welcomes submissions on any matters relevant to the terms of reference, but is particularly interested in your views on:

  1. potential tax reform and ways to boost the productivity of Australia’s arts and creative sectors; and
  2. any opportunities, risks and challenges for Australia’s arts and creative sectors associated with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.

Terms of Reference

That the following matters be re-referred to the Environment and Communications References Committee for inquiry and report by 25 June 2026:

  1. the National Cultural Policy released on 30 January 2023; and
  2. any other related matters.

That the committee have the power to consider and use the records of the Environment and Communications References Committee appointed in the previous parliament.
