On 21 June 2023, the Senate Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Legislation Committee resolved to inquire into the performance of the Department of Defence in supporting the capability and capacity of Australia’s defence industry.

The committee is calling for written submissions by 14 July 2023.

The committee has received a number of form letters to this inquiry (17) outlining a consistent theme. The committee has resolved to publish an example of the form letter on its submissions page. The committee thanks those who took the time to provide the committee with their views.

The committee tabled its interim report on 19 October 2023.

The committee intends to table its final report by the final sitting day of March 2024 (28 March 2024).

On 28 February 2024, the committee resolved to extend the reporting date to the final sitting day in 2024 (28 November 2024).
