Proposed China-Australia Free Trade Agreement

On 24 March 2015, the Senate referred matters relating to the proposed China-Australia Free Trade Agreement to the Senate Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade References Committee for inquiry and report.

The China-Australia Free Trade Agreement was tabled in Parliament on 17 June 2015 and was referred to the Joint Standing Committee on Treaties (JSCOT) for inquiry and report.

Under the terms of reference, the Senate Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade References Committee will report within one month of the tabling of JSCOT’s report on the agreement.

On 19 October 2015, JSCOT tabled its report into the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement. Further information about JSCOT, as well as the full text of the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement and related resources, may be found on JSCOT’s webpage.
