INQUIRY INTO THE REFORM OF AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION

INTERIM REPORT

Pursuant to Senate Standing Order 38(7), I present to you the interim report of the Senate Finance and Public Administration References Committee on its inquiry into the Reform of Australian Government Administration.

On 24 June 2010 the Senate referred to the Finance and Public Administration References Committee for inquiry and report by 26 August 2010:

The Ahead of the Game: Blueprint for the Reform of Australian Government Administration issued by the Advisory Group on Reform of Australian Government Administration in March 2010 and, in particular:

(a) the implementation of recommendations contained in the review, including means and costs of implementation;

(b) possible amendments to the Public Service Act 1999;

(c) identification and consideration of related matters not covered by the review; and

(d) any other related matter.

The Committee is continuing to receive submissions for the inquiry and has not yet held public hearings. Due to the prorogation of the 42 nd Parliament and the need to thoroughly consider the evidence it has received to date, the Committee requires additional time to complete its inquiry and intends to table its final report as soon as practicable.

Senator Scott Ryan
Chair
