Inquiry into the Commonwealth Radioactive Waste Management Legislation Amendment Bill 2006
The provisions of the
Commonwealth Radioactive Waste Management Legislation Amendment Bill 2006
have been referred to the Senate Employment, Workplace Relations and
Education Committee for examination and report by 30 November. The bill
addresses concerns raised by the Northern Land Council in relation to
nominating a site under the CRWM Act. This bill, among other provisions,
amends the Act to provide for the return of nominated Aboriginal land when
no longer required for the waste facility. The bill also indemnifies the
land trust against damages arising from the use of the land for a waste
facility. Submissions are due by 22 November. For further details contact
