The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Economics is empowered to inquire into, and report on, the annual reports of government departments and authorities presented in the House that stand referred to the committee in accordance with the Speaker’s Schedule. The Reserve Bank of Australia annual reports stand referred to the committee in accordance with this schedule.

The committee has resolved to conduct an inquiry into the Reserve Bank of Australia Annual Report 2025. The committee is also currently inquiring into the 2024 annual report.

The RBA Governor’s appearance before the committee at biannual public hearings is an important element of the Bank’s accountability framework. The details of the framework are set out in the Statement on the Conduct of Monetary Policy agreed between the Treasurer and the RBA Governor.
