The Indigenous Affairs Committee will hear from the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) this Thursday as part of its inquiry into pathways and participation opportunities for Indigenous Australians in employment and business.

Committee Chair Julian Leeser MP said that the NIAA has a key role in supporting opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

‘The NIAA administers the Community Development Program (CDP) aimed at increasing Indigenous participation in work and the Indigenous Procurement Policy (IPP) that requires Indigenous-owned businesses to be considered for certain Government contracts.’

‘The Committee looks forward to discussing the effectiveness of these schemes and other Indigenous participation policies with the NIAA,’ Mr Leeser said.
