Review of the listing of Terrorgram as a terrorist organisation under the Criminal Code
The Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security (the Committee) has commenced a review into the listing of Terrorgram as a terrorist organisation under the Criminal Code Act 1995.
Section 102.1A of the Criminal Code Act 1995 provides that the Committee may review a regulation which lists an organisation as a terrorist organisation at any time and report its comments and recommendations to each House of the Parliament. The Committee aims to report before the end of the applicable disallowance period for each regulation. The disallowance period is 15 sitting days from the day the regulation is tabled in each House.

Review of the Telecommunications and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2025
On 27 August 2025, the Minister for Home Affairs referred the Telecommunications and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2025 to the Committee for review and report. The Bill proposes to amend the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979, Surveillance Devices Act 2004 and Crimes Act 1914 to ensure key provisions operate as intended, and to support the proper administration of government, law enforcement, national security and criminal justice processes.
