Information about the Inquiry
The provisions of the
Higher Education Legislation Amendment (2007 Measures No. 1) Bill 2007
have been referred to the Senate Employment, Workplace Relations and
Education Committee for examination and report by 1 May 2007. The
bill contains, among other things, measures to provide funding to support
the implementation of the Research Quality Framework, reflect changes to
the National Protocols for Higher Education Approval Process, and
improve the administration of the Higher Education Loan Programme (HELP)
and arrangements for Commonwealth supported students. The bill will also
limit the time for students to claim an entitlement to Commonwealth
support. Submissions are due by 13 April 2007 and the committee
will determine the need for a public hearing upon receipt of submissions.
Any hearing date will be notified on this website.

terms of reference for this inquiry. Submitters are able to comment on any
part of the legislation about which they have concerns or which they
believe to be noteworthy.
