Minor Treaty Actions, or Category 3 treaty actions, include treaty actions that do not impact significantly on the national interest and are likely to have negligible financial or legal effect within Australia.
The Committee has the discretion to inquire formally into minor treaty actions or indicate its acceptance of them without a formal inquiry. If the Committee decides that binding treaty action can be taken for a minor treaty action without a formal inquiry, then this decision will be noted in the next report of the Committee tabled in Parliament.
From time to time the Committee receives additional documents related to minor treaty actions. Such documents are listed under Additional Documents.
In the 2019 Spring sittings the Committee held a public hearing to inquire into the proposed Agreement between Australia, Korea and various other parties on Korea's WTO rice quotas.
