Aspects of the Peru-Australia Free Trade Agreement revisited

The Joint Standing Committee on Treaties has adopted a reference from Minister Birmingham to investigate aspects on the Peru-Australia Free Trade Agreement, with the Committee agreeing to report by 21 November 2018.

Noting its August 2018 report into PAFTA, the Committee will again consider:

• ongoing concerns over the increasing complexity created by the number of trade agreements, particularly multiple agreements with the same partner; and

• the specific inclusion and operation of the Investor-State Dispute Settlement provisions in recently concluded trade agreements.

The Committee invites interested persons and organisations to make submissions by 2 November 2018.

Submissions for this inquiry can be lodged online via the link on this page. For information on how to make a submission, go to our Making a submission to a Parliamentary Inquiry page.
