DPS Staff Survey

The DPS Staff Survey provides all DPS employees with the opportunity to provide feedback relating to their experiences and perceptions of working in the department. Confidential attitude and opinion information is collected on a range of important workforce issues such as employee engagement, leadership, culture, and working relationships within the department.

The 2024 DPS Staff Survey was conducted over a six-week period between 13 May and 28 June 2024. Sixty-seven per cent of staff (778 out of 1164) responded to the survey.

The Highlights Report shows strong performance in areas such as employee engagement, team relationships, supervisor performance, recognition, and autonomy. Areas that rated lower included learning and development, remuneration, and adaptability.

The department gains insights from the results and is committed to taking action to improve our working environment by identifying key areas for improvement and developing actions to improve future survey results. A DPS staff survey action plan that responds to the 2024 staff survey results is currently being developed by the department and once finalised, will be published here in early 2025.

The 2024 DPS Staff Census Action Plan outlines the department’s commitment to addressing key findings from the 2024 staff survey. This action plan reflects our ongoing efforts to create a positive, safe, and engaging workplace where all team members feel valued and empowered to contribute their best.

The staff survey provided us with valuable insights into the experiences and perceptions of our people across a variety of areas, including culture, leadership, and team dynamics. It highlighted both our strengths and areas where we have opportunities for growth. As we move forward, the Action Plan will guide our efforts to make meaningful improvements for our staff.
