Social media terms of use

Our social media terms of use help ensure our platforms promote respectful discussions.
To achieve this, we may hide or delete posts that:

  • are inflammatory, defamatory or considered bullying or harassment
  • use obscene or offensive language, images or video
  • would violate the law or that are currently the subject of legal proceedings
  • are overtly party-political (for example reference to candidates, fundraisers, support for political parties)
  • promote commercial interests
  • reveal personal information about yourself or others
  • are multiple versions of the same view.

These terms of use are in addition to the terms of service of each social media platform.

We may block users who post content that is in breach of our terms of use.

Posts made by users on our pages don't represent the department’s opinions.

If we see a comment that suggests someone wants to harm themselves or others, we’ll report it to the relevant authorities.

Responding to questions and messages

We usually monitor our social media accounts from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

We're here to help and aim to respond to questions and messages that comply with our terms of use as soon as possible.

We will never ask you for personal information through social media. If we need personal information to answer your question or help you, we will ask you to use a more private channel.
