Inquiry into the Financial Transaction Reports Amendment Bill 2006
Information about the inquiry
On 21 June 2006, the Senate
referred the above Bill to the Senate Legal and Constitutional Legislation
Committee for inquiry and report by 1 August 2006.
The Bill
proposes to vary amendments made to the Financial Transaction Reports Act
1988, by Schedule 9 of the Anti-Terrorism (No. 2) Act 2005, to
address certain concerns raised by non-bank money remitters during the
Federal Government's consultation on the Anti-Money Laundering and
Counter-Terrorism Financing Bill 2005.
Lodging Submissions
Submissions are being called for by 10 July 2006. Submissions become Committee documents and are only made
public after a decision by the Committee. Unauthorised release of
