Inquiry into the Telecommunications Legislation Amendment (National Broadband Network Measures No 1) Bill 2009

Information about the Inquiry

The Senate has referred the Telecommunications Legislation Amendment (National Broadband Network Measures No 1) Bill 2009 to the Committee for inquiry and report by 17 August 2009. The inquiry will consider the scope of requirements, powers conferred and whether confidentiality provisions are adequate to ensure privacy protections.

The Committee is seeking written submissions from interested individuals and organisations preferably in electronic form submitted Online or sent by email to eca.sen@aph.gov.au. The email must include full postal address and contact details. The committee would prefer submissions by Thursday, 16 July 2009.

Submissions become committee documents and are made public only after a decision by the Committee. Persons making submissions must not release them without the approval of the Committee. Submissions are covered by parliamentary privilege but the unauthorised release of them is not.
