Division 3 of Part III of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation Act 1979 (ASIO Act) establishes ASIO’s compulsory questioning powers. The Committee is reviewing the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation Amendment Bill (No. 2) 2025. The bill would make comprehensive reforms to the ASIO compulsory questioning powers framework.
- Review of the listing of Terrorgram as a terrorist organisation under the Criminal Code

The Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security (the Committee) commenced a review into Terrorgram as a terrorist organisation under the Criminal Code Act 1995.
Section 102.1A of the Criminal Code Act 1995 provides that the Committee may review a regulation which lists an organisation as a terrorist organisation at any time and report its comments and recommendations to each House of the Parliament. The Committee aims to report before the end of the applicable disallowance period for each regulation. The disallowance period is 15 sitting days from the day the regulation is tabled in each House.
- Review of the Strengthening Oversight of the National Intelligence Community Bill 2025

The Bill proposes to expand the jurisdictions of the key oversight bodies for the National Intelligence Community and to implement a range of other related measures.

Telecommunications and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2025 to the Committee for review and report. The Bill proposes to amend the
Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979,
Surveillance Devices Act 2004 and
Crimes Act 1914 to ensure key provisions operate as intended, and to support the proper administration of government, law enforcement, national security and criminal justice processes.
