Civil Aviation Legislation Amendment (Mutual Recognition with New
Zealand) Bill 2005
Information about the Inquiry
On 10 August 2005, the Senate referred the provisions of the above bill to the Senate Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by
5 September 2005.
The bill proposes amendments to existing legislation to permit the
mutual recognition between Australia and New Zealand of air operator's
certificates for aircraft of more than 30 seats.
The Committee's inquiry will focus on crew/passenger ratios and
associated safety issues and on flight air security officers.

The Committee invites written submissions on the Bill. Due to the short
timeframe for this inquiry the submission should be lodged with the
Committee as soon as possible. The Committee prefers to receive

The Committee intends to hold a public hearing on the Bill on Monday,
29 August 2005.
