Pursuant to the committee’s duties under subsection 177(1) of the National Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2022, the committee will inquire into the following aspects of the National Anti-Corruption Commission’s performance of its functions:

  1. the timeliness of referral assessments;
  2. protocols and practices relating to the timeliness and frequency of the Commission’s communications with referrers;
  3. the availability of support mechanisms for people engaging with the Commission;
  4. the Commission’s approach to public reporting and communication with the broader public about its role; and
  5. the effectiveness of the Commission’s corruption prevention and education activities.

The committee will report by 26 October 2026.

Noting the committee’s functions set out in section 177 of the National Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2022, the committee is not permitted to investigate a corruption issue or reconsider a decision made by the Commission. The committee therefore cannot investigate individual cases or referrals. Individual experiences can, however, assist the committee to understand systemic issues.
