INQUIRY INTO INDIGENOUS LAND USE AGREEMENTS


As part of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Native Title and Torres Strait Islander Land Fund responsibilities, under section 206 of the Native Title Act 1993, the Committee is required to report on the implementation and operation of the Act.

As part of that broad referral of responsibilities, the Committee has decided to undertake an inquiry into the operation and effectiveness of Indigenous Land Use Agreements [ILUAs]. The Committee would value any comments on any or all of the following issues:

Please note that, while submission to this inquiry had been requested by 22 December 2000, that deadline no longer applies. Submissions will be welcome until the Committee finalises its report.

Persons making submissions must not release them without the approval of the Committee. Submissions are covered by parliamentary privilege but the unauthorised release of them is not.
