    to require the Australian Sports Commission to promote women’s participation in sport, including by supporting the provision of single-sex sport for women and girls; and
    Sex Discrimination Act 1984
    to provide that the provision of single-sex sports, services and facilities for women and girls is consistent with the objects of the Act; insert definitions of ‘man’ and ‘woman’; and provide that it is not unlawful to exclude persons of one sex from participation in any sporting activity intended for persons of a different sex.

Bills and committees

The House of Representatives Selection Committee and the Senate Selection of Bills Committee routinely consider whether bills should be referred to committees for inquiry and report. The House Committee reports its determinations to the chamber, while the Senate Committee makes recommendations which the Senate may then adopt. Bills may also be referred to committees by either chamber or by the relevant minister to House and joint committees.
