Pursuant to Senate standing order 38(7), this letter forms the interim report of the Community Affairs References Committee in relation to its inquiry into the care and management of younger and older Australians living with dementia and behavioural and psychiatric symptoms of dementia (BPSD).

The committee is continuing to evaluate evidence received throughout the inquiry and intends to seek a formal re-referral from the Senate at the commencement of the next Parliament to continue its work.

  1. the scope and adequacy of the different models of community;
  2. resourcing of those models of care; and
  3. the scope for improving the provision of care and management of Australians living with dementia and BPSD.
