On 10 August 2023, the Senate referred the provisions of the Housing Australia Future Fund Bill 2023 [No. 2] and related bills to the Senate Economics Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 24 October 2023. This package of bills as introduced was identical to the Housing Australia Future Fund package of bills that the committee inquired into and reported on 22 March 2023.

The committee called for submissions by 29 August 2023 and 13 submissions were received and published.

On 13 September 2023, the Senate considered the original package of bills which was passed with amendments and requests for the House of Representatives. On the same day, the House of Representatives made amendments to the Housing Australia Future Fund Bill 2023 in accordance with the requests of the Senate. On14September 2023, the original package of bills was read for a third time in the Senate.

As the original package of bills has been passed by the Senate and the package of bills under consideration by the committee is identical, the committee reports that its inquiry is concluded.
