Following government endorsement of the recommendations of the Review of the Corporate Governance of Statutory Authorities and Office Holders (the Uhrig Review), the bill amends the
Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Act 1975
to implement changes to the governance arrangements of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. Also provides for: a periodic outlook report; development of zoning plans for the Marine Park; and replaces the Great Barrier Reef Consultative Committee with a non-statutory advisory board.

to restructure the method of payment and collection of the Environmental Management Charge levied on standard tourism operations to clarify that goods and services tax is not payable; and consequentially extend the powers of inspectors to search aircraft and vessels and the powers of magistrates to issue search warrants. Also contains an application provision.
