    to: repeal the sunset clause (due to take effect on 1 July 2006) to enable the continuation of the Advanced Payment Option for compensation claimants to access the major proportion of compensation money at the time of their judgement or settlement; remove the definition of “fatal injury” to ensure that Commonwealth benefits paid in situations involving a fatal injury or disease must also be repaid after judgement or settlement; provide a formal pathway for review of certain decisions; replace certain superseded wording; and clarify the value of a “small amount”.

    to: extend the operation of pharmacy location rules and their administration by the Australian Community Pharmacy Authority (ACPA) to 30 June 2010; increase the membership of the ACPA to include a consumer representative; provide for a Ministerial discretionary power in relation to approval of a pharmacist; clarify the Secretary’s ability to approve more than one pharmacist to supply pharmaceutical benefits in respect of particular premises and the Minister’s power to determine conditions relating to premises applying to approval to supply pharmaceutical benefits; simplify the approval process for pharmacists wishing to expand or contract their premises; and make minor technical amendments.

    to: extend, until 30 June 2006, the existing arrangements for approving pharmacists to supply medicines subsidised under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme; clarify that dependants of contributors to a health benefits fund with appropriate cover, as well as the contributors, are covered by the fund;
    Health Insurance Act 1973
    to: clarify the scope of the power to make Medicare Tables; and enable the Minister to make legislative instruments determining that Medicare benefits are not payable for professional services in specified circumstances; and
    Medical Indemnity Act 2002
    to replace references to the Health Insurance Commission with references to the Chief Executive Officer of Medicare Australia.
