    Amends the
    Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Act 1948
    to: terminate the Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Scheme; require existing scheme members to choose a complying superannuation fund in line with the arrangements applying to new parliamentarians since 2004; and require the Commonwealth to pay into the complying superannuation funds chosen by members their respective commuted superannuation benefits and ongoing superannuation contributions.

    Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Act 1948
    to: close the Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Scheme to new members from the next general election; and suspend retiring allowances being paid to former senators and members who are again elected at or after the next general election; and
    Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Act 1948
    and
    Remuneration and Allowances Act 1990
    to allow a limited salary sacrifice facility for senators and members who are entitled to superannuation under the new arrangements.

    Introduced with the Parliamentary Superannuation and Other Entitlements Legislation Amendment Bill 2004, the bill establishes new superannuation arrangements for persons who become members of the Federal Parliament at or after the next general election.     by amending the:
    Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984
    (MoP(S) Act) to: require a notice of termination of employment to specify the ground or grounds that are relied on for the termination; and clarify that the
    Fair Work Act 2009
    and
    Fair Work (Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Act 2009
    apply to staff employed or engaged under the MoP(S) Act;
    Work Health and Safety Act 2011
    to clarify that parliamentarians are officers of the Commonwealth for the purposes of the Act; and
    Age Discrimination Act 2004

    Disability Discrimination Act 1992
    to clarify that staff employed or engaged under the MoP(S) Act are Commonwealth employees for the purposes of the Acts.
