Summary

Amends the:

Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918
and
Referendum (Machinery Provisions) Act 1984
to provide that: rolls are closed seven days after the issue of the writ for an election; provisional voters are not required to provide evidence of identity; electors can update their enrolment details electronically; the Australian Electoral Commission may process enrolment transactions outside the division for which the person is enrolling; and pre-poll votes cast in an elector’s home division can be cast and counted as ordinary votes; and
Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918
to restrict the number of candidates that can be endorsed by a political party in each division.
