Summary

Amends the:

Child Support (Assessment) Act 1989
to: increase and index the minimum annual child support payment; provide for a new method of assessing a parent’s capacity to earn; and reduce the cap on adjusted income for child support assessment purposes and make a consequential amendment to the proposed
Child Support Legislation Amendment Act 2006
;
Child Support (Registration and Collection) Act 1988
to increase the limit on prescribed non-agency payments from 25 to 30 per cent; and
Child Support (Assessment) Act 1989
and
Child Support (Registration and Collection) Act 1988
to address a constitutional issue with the application of the Child Support Scheme to exnuptial children in Western Australia.
