On 15 June 2017, the Senate referred the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Quality and Safeguards Commission and Other Measures) Bill 2017 to the Senate Community Affairs Legislation Committee for inquiry and report.

Submissions were sought by 28 July 2017. The reporting date is 5 September 2017. On 17 August 2017, the Senate granted an extension of time for reporting until 13 September 2017. On 13 September 2017, the Senate granted an extension of time for reporting until 13 October 2017.  On 16 October 2017, the Senate granted an extension of time for reporting until 8 November 2017.
