Dear Mr President

An inquiry into the the decision to fund the Perth Freight Link project was referred to the Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport References Committee by the Senate on 13 August 2015, for inquiry and report by 26 November 2015. On 12 November 2015, the Senate granted an extension of time for reporting until 25 March 2016. On 29 February 2016 the Senate granted a further extension of time to report to 29 April 2016.

The committee received 228 public submissions and held two public hearings in Western Australia, the first at Fremantle on 7 October 2015, and the second at Kwinana on 23 March 2016.

The Committee wishes to extend this reporting date to 3 May 2016, to allow it to conclude its deliberations and finalise its report.
