The bills contain proposed amendments to the Excise Tariff Act 1921 and the Customs Tariff Act 1995 that would index the rate of excise and excise-equivalent customs duty applied to fuels. The bills also propose that a special account be established to ensure that the net additional revenue from the reintroduction of fuel indexation is used for road infrastructure funding.
