Review of the 'declared area' provisions

On 9 August 2017 the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security commenced an inquiry into the provisions under sections 119.2 and 119.3 of the Criminal Code that make it an offence for a person to enter, or remain in, a 'declared area' in a foreign country.

Under paragraph 29(1)(bb) of the Intelligence Services Act 2001, the Committee was required to complete its review by 7 March 2018.

The Committee tabled its report on 1 March 2018.
