    Summary
    Part of a package of five bills relating to the sale of the government’s equity in Telstra Corporation Limited, the bill amends the:
    Telstra Corporation Act 1991
    to: repeal provisions which require the Commonwealth to retain 50.1 per cent equity in Telstra; cease application of provisions relating to Ministerial directions and reporting obligations once the Commonwealth’s equity falls below 15 per cent; specify sale provisions; reaffirm the universal service and digital data service obligations and the customer service guarantee; and temporarily cease appropriations in connection with a Telstra sale scheme;
    Administrative Decisions (Judicial Review) Act 1977
    to exempt decisions of Telstra from the application of the Act after the sale;
    Telstra Corporation Act 1991

    Introduced with the Passenger Movement Charge Amendment (Norfolk Island) Bill 2016, the bill amends the:
    Norfolk Island Legislation Amendment Act 2015
    to: enable New Zealand residents who hold a permanent visa and reside on Norfolk Island access to social security payments from 1 July 2016; align the early claims period for family assistance payments with the early claims periods for social security and child support payments before 1 July 2016; and broaden the definition of the Norfolk Island Regional Council to enable flexibility in the application of local government law;
    Child Support (Assessment) Act 1989

    Child Support (Registration and Collection) Act 1988
    to extend the child support scheme to residents of the Indian Ocean Territories of Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands;

    Introduced with the Territories Stolen Generations Redress Scheme (Facilitation) Bill 2021 to facilitate the implementation of certain aspects of the Territories Stolen Generations Redress Scheme, the bill amends the:
    Income Tax Assessment Act 1997
    to provide that redress payments are exempt from income tax;
    Bankruptcy Act 1966
    to provide that redress payments are not available to creditors of recipients for the purposes of recovering money under bankruptcy proceedings;
    Social Security Act 1991

    Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986
    to ensure that redress payments do not count as income for the purposes of any income support payments; and
    Social Security (Administration) Act 1999
    to authorise the use of protected information.
